Babies thrive when cared for by adults who are "crazy about them
Welcome to PA-AIMH
PA-AIMH is a non-profit organization spearheaded by a dedicated interdisciplinary team of early childhood professionals throughout Pennsylvania. The association's mission is to nurture and develop a workforce that is fully equipped to provide infants and their families with the latest evidence-based and informed practices. PA-AIMH is committed to bolstering IMH providers across the state with training, support, and opportunities for Reflective Practice. Additionally, the organization advocates for families and ensures that infants have a voice in shaping policies and practices within Pennsylvania.
Infant Mental Health (IMH) is a multifaceted field encompassing research and practice. IMH professionals cater to children and their families from birth to five years old, aiming to foster healthy social-emotional growth in all children and their families. IMH efforts also focus on preventing social-emotional and health issues in at-risk children and families. When social-emotional development encounters challenges, IMH providers step in to guide it back on track. PA-AIMH upholds traditional IMH philosophies aligned with Selma Fraiberg's work, among other methodologies that enhance the mental health of infants and families by improving infant-caregiver relationships.
